The Lee Charity of William Hatcliffe and The Lee Education Charity of William Hatcliffe have  6 Trustees.

The Board of Trustees of The Lee Charity of William Hatcliffe and The Lee Education Charity of William Hatcliffe meet monthly and makes decisions on grant applications. 

Trustees are appointed for a minimum term of 4 years except for the Chair, the Rector of St Margaret’s Lee, who is an ex-officio Trustee for the period of holding office. 

Our board of Trustees give their time and contribute their varied expertise, knowledge, and experience without payment.

Doreen Brooker 

Doreen is a retired government servant and has lived in the Borough of Lewisham all her life. She became involved with the charity in the mid-1950s as a distributor of out-pensions to elderly people, most of whom were impoverished women. When this ceased in the 1970s, she gladly became a trustee of the charity, knowing what a profound difference it had made to many individual lives. Since retirement, she has organised visits for the local and National Trust branches as well as guided tours at Southwark Cathedral. She has held various administrative posts for her local church.

Doreen has served as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2011.

Richard Clough 

Richard has spent the last 40 years practising as a barrister engaged in public law children’s cases involving children in care and adoption proceedings, representing local authorities, parents and children through their Children’s Guardians. 

Richard has been a trustee since 2021. He also sits on the board of The William Hatcliffe Estate Charity. 

Katy Donnelly 

Katy is a director of the charity Book Clubs in Schools, which supports children’s reading for pleasure. She was the Chair of Governors of an all-age special school for over ten years. She has also held governance roles in further and higher education and as an elected member responsible for children’s services in local government. Her background is in public sector consultancy working with local government and health, particularly around issues of social exclusion and partnership working with local organisations.

Katy has served as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2011.

Roger Thomas KC 

Roger recently retired after a career practising as a barrister at the Revenue Bar, where his specialisms included the taxation of charities and non-profit-making organisations.

Roger Thomas has served as a member of the Board of Trustees since 2007. 

Revd Manuela Schmucki

As the rector of St Margaret’s Lee, Manuela serves as an ex-officio trustee since October 2024.

Wyn Kirkman

Since retiring from a career in the city, Wyn has been an active member of the community in Lewisham, participating in many charitable events. She is currently the Deputy Churchwarden at St Margaret’s Lee. 

Wyn has been a Trustee since 2012 and also sits on the board of The William Hatcliffe Estate Charity. 

Neel Dakshy

Neel is a RIBA chartered Architect, working primarily in the boroughs of Lewisham and Greenwich, and is the current Chair of Governors at St Margaret’s Lee CE School.

He has been a trustee since January 2024 and is also a trustee of the William Hatcliffe Estate Charity.
