It has been wonderful working with the Lee Charity of William Hatcliffe. The charity has provided laptops to all secondary-aged asylum-seeking young people in Lewisham’s contingency accommodation. Many had been struggling to complete their schoolwork on their smartphones, especially in the run-up to exams.
Young people and their families have expressed huge gratitude to Lee Charity of William Hatcliffe for making an enormous difference in their education. Being a Borough of Sanctuary is about a joint effort from the entire community to welcome sanctuary seekers, and this is a great example of welcome and solidarity.
